After we passed Gregory Butte on our left we knew we were getting close. A few rumbles of thunder throughout the day had encouraged us to keep a lively pace. As soon as we saw this sign, and quickly passed it, we knew there was no stopping us. The next sign was a clue the trail was going to get a little rougher. If they didn't want horses going past this sign, it must be rough. Well, it was just a little rocky. The single trail became many as it weaved the creek, every choice becoming a short scramble. The thunder was getting louder and just before we got to the end of the trail we heard sounds that stopped us in our tracks. It turned out to be the rain and wind together. Combined, the sounds gathered strength as they moved down the canyon toward us. A light rain landed on us at the same time as the combination arrived. Pretty cool!
