After one more look over the dam and a quick stop for a few post cards, we headed back to the parking structure and squeaked back out onto the highway(the concrete sealant used on the parking structure made our tires squeak around every turn). The line of traffic crossing over to AZ was now over a mile long. We decided to take the scenic route. After missing the first turn we eventually made it into the Lake Meade National Recreation Area. We followed Northshore Road along the Muddy Mountains, skirting Valley of Fire State Park. The terrain shapes and colors were quite fascinating. Next time.... After our incredible drive through the desert we stopped in Overton to make a quick stop for some snacks and a case of Corona(they don't sell real beer in UT!). Mike proudly pocketed a Von's shopper's card! Another 10miles down the road and we were at I-15. We made a turn to the east and, with the help of a 75MPH speed limit, we were at Zion in just a few hours.
